In recent days, all Vietnamese are extending their sympathy over their fellowmen in central region. With affection and responsibility for the community, Sai Gon J.S. Commercial Bank (SCB) has taken practical actions to join hands with the people in the Central region to overcome difficulties caused by natural disasters and floods.
As end of October, 2020, all SCB’s employees have donated nearly VND1.5 billion to support families that suffered from floods in central Vietnam. Such fund was given directly to people in flood-damaged areas in Ha Tinh, Nghe An, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Quang Binh and Quang Tri, from November 2nd to November 18th, 2020.
Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam and Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnamese Fatherland Front Tran Thanh Man received donation for the "For the Poor" Fund from SCB’s representative - Mr. Hoang Minh Hoan, Standing Deputy CEO.
Previously, on October 17th, 2020, SCB donated VND500 million to the Fund "For the Poor" through the program "Joining hands for the poor" - an annual event organized by the Standing Committee of Central Committee of Vietnam Fatherland Front, Steering Committee for National Target Programs, Vietnam Television Station. On October 21st, 2020, SCB continued to donate VND01 billion to the Fund "For the Poor" of Ho Chi Minh City, through the program "City of gratitude - Love connection" organized by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City.

These are annual events organized by the Steering Committee of the national target programs, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, which have brought practical results, together with the Party and Country creating more resources to help the poor in society and spreading the concern, humanity and compassion in the community.
With the negative impacts of the COVID-19 epidemic on global and domestic economy, natural disasters and epidemics happened consecutively recently, many poor families are now facing even more difficulties. The movement "The whole country joins hands for the poor - Let no one be left behind" proposed by the Prime Minister this year was very meaningful as it continues to focus on social security activities, people’s spiritual and material life, especially families under preferential treatment policies, poor households, people in remote areas and regions damaged by natural disasters and climate change.
SCB representative gave money to support Mr. Hoang Trong Quan's family (born in 2005, residing in Nam Thang village, Thach Thang commune, Thach Ha district). Mr. Quan passed away because of being drowned in the last flood.
From the beginning of 2020, in the context of the country's socio-economic difficulties due to the COVID-19 epidemic, SCB has organized many practical and timely social security programs such as donating 150 million co-supporting the team of Doctors and Physicians at Da Nang General Hospital, Lung Hospital of Hoa Vang district, Hoa Vang Field Hospital; contributed nearly 1.6 billion VND to buy and donate 100 medical beds to hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City, Lang Son, Cao Bang and Quang Tri in the prevention of COVID-19 epidemic diseases; sponsoring 1.2 billion dong to build 20 houses for poor families in Long An province, etc.
Besides, SCB continues to actively implement the chain of activities "SCB join hands for public health", including practical preferential policies for customers, to help overcome the effects of COVID-19, such as: issuing online savings books with integrated QR codes via Email and SMS, providing many free online services, considering reducing interest rates for businesses that have had difficulties due to the recent epidemic, etc.
SCB's representative gave gifts and money donations to pupils of Hong Loc and Thu Loc kindergarten and primary schools, Loc Ha district, Ha Tinh province.
