SCB participated in the program: “The whole country joins hands for the poor 2020”

On October 17th 2020, at the Viet Xo Friendship Labor Cultural Palace, Hanoi, Mr. Hoang Minh Hoan - SCB's Standing Deputy CEO - represented SCB to donate VND500 million to the "For the poor” Fund in the program "The whole country join hands for the poor in 2020".


Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam and Chairman of the Central Committee of Vietnam Fatherland Front Tran Thanh Man received support for the "For the Poor" Fund from representatives of SCB - Mr. Hoang Minh Hoan, Standing Deputy CEO.

The program "The whole country joins hands for the poor" is an annual event organized on October 17th (International Day for Poverty Elimination and Vietnam Day for the Poor), by the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Steering Committee of the national target programs, Vietnam Television Station. The program has brought practical results, contributing to the Party and State to create more resources to help the poor in society and spread care, humanity and compassion in the community.

The COVID-19 epidemic had left negative impacts on the world and domestic economy, together with the occurance of natural disasters and epidemics happened consecutively in recent years, many poor families are facing even more difficulties. The program "The whole country joins hands for the poor" this year has a profound meaning as it continues to focus on social security activities, take care of the material and spiritual lives of people, especially poor households, people in remote and isolated areas, and people in areas that are damaged by natural disasters and climate change.

Through the program, SCB donated VND500 million to the "For the Poor" Fund, demonstrating the corporate responsibility to the society, wishing to share difficulties and supporting poor households across the country, helping households escape poverty, and creating opportunities for the poor to have jobs and stabilize their lives.

From the beginning of 2020, in the context of the country's socio-economic difficulties due to the COVID-19 epidemic, SCB has organized many practical and timely social security programs such as donating VND150 million co-supporting the team of Medicine and Physicians at Da Nang General Hospital, Lung Hospital of Hoa Vang district, Hoa Vang Field Hospital; contributing approximately VND1.6 billion to buy 100 medical beds to hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City, Lang Son, Cao Bang and Quang Tri in the prevention of COVID-19 epidemic; sponsoring VND1.2 billion to build 20 houses for poor families in Long An province, etc.

In addition, SCB continues to actively implement the charity activities named “SCB joins hands for public health”, including practical preferential policies for customers, to help them overcome the COVID-19. The activities include: issuing online savings books with integrated QR codes via Email and SMS, providing many free online services, as well as considering reducing interest rates for businesses that have had difficulties due to the recent epidemic, etc.
